Zip Healthcare is a pioneering digital healthcare platform in the African market, that is designed to improve efficiency in pharmacies. Angola and Zambia are the first countries to benefit from this platform. Mr. Raghunandan Sreenivasan, Co-Founder and COO of the company, leads the initiative of taking affordable health care to Africa’s underserved areas. Mr. Sreenivasan shares his thoughts on how Clappia’s no-code platform has helped their business processes change, leading to transforming healthcare delivery systems within their regions of operations.
Zip Healthcare found its roots in addressing huge inefficiencies facing the African health supply chain. Out-of-date practices in conventional African medical systems characterize them as well as shortages of medical supplies and inadequate infrastructure. Besides these factors, there are economic hardships where the majority of people live on less than $10 per day. Delays, errors, and high operational costs were common in most health facilities due to manual paper based activities.
Similarly, lack of technology infrastructure meant that modernizing an efficient healthcare system required unique and innovative solutions in these regions. Mr. Sreenivasan emphasizes that,
"Healthcare accessibility is the most inefficient part in the African healthcare supply chain."
He added, "People here are earning less than $10 a day, and we have this mission of trying to get affordable healthcare to reach the people with utmost efficiency and at lower costs."
The use of Clappia's no-code platform was a great asset to Zip Healthcare that provided it with flexibility and adaptability to navigate the healthcare terrain in Africa. The ease of use of Clappia’s no-code platform and the support they received made it stand out as the go to platform to use and became useful to Zip Healthcare because they were able to come up with applications that met their needs without needing the extra time nor expertise to code.
"What sets Clappia apart is the kind of support that I can get. Every time we had a unique challenge, the Clappia team was there to help us understand how the platform works and solve our use cases." said Mr. Sreenivasan.
Zip Healthcare had previously tried other no-code platforms before discovering Clappia, however, they lacked for different reasons. Seeing as the features available met crucial requirements, and for its simplicity in setting it up, they decided to go ahead.
The incorporation of Clappia into Zip Healthcare began with developing applications to manage their field operations and customer interactions. These applications significantly reduced the time and effort required to monitor and support their field agents, ensuring that healthcare services could be delivered more efficiently and reliably.
Since field force tracking is an essential aspect of Zip Healthcare’s operations, using Clappia’s GPS location and live tracking features, they could monitor their field representatives at any time. They knew the exact locations on a map anytime they were on the move, saw all the stops that were to be made as well as routes taken. Therefore, through this capability efficient services can be guaranteed by agents who work within designated areas and keep time as scheduled for the communities they serve.
"Live tracking has given us a lot of compliance to our beat plans," noted Mr. Sreenivasan.
Their Field Force has a lot of complex activities, have clusters defined and the representatives have to be in a particular cluster to deliver their results.
“Monitoring them and ensuring that day-to-day tracking is happening was a nightmare if done offline.” adds Mr. Sreenivasan. With the feature of live tracking, they were able to have an overview of whether the right amount of time was being spent in the required cluster and if they were really doing the required tasks or not.
Another effect of the introduction of Clappia’s platform on field operations was improvement in overall operational efficiency at Zip Healthcare through automated workflows. It reduced data entry errors which were manual and hence allowed staff to concentrate more on strategic responsibilities. By doing this, Zip healthcare managed to lower the cost of quality healthcare delivery, aligning with their mission of making healthcare affordable and accessible to the African communities.
Clappia’s platform is designed to not make it complicated for end users to build apps and even if they are stuck, Clappia has an extensive help guide and video tutorials that can make anybody build apps in a few hours and go live, just like Mr Sreenivasan did. He shares,
"The first versions of our applications, including customer service and field force tracking, were built by me within a few hours and went live. It was very easy and super efficient."
Zip Healthcare developed a variety of applications using Clappia's no-code platform, each tailored to address their specific operational needs. Here are some of their use cases:
Field Force Management
This is an application that helps monitor and manage the activities of field agents. Among its key features are:
Clappia has been used in developing applications aimed at improving customer interactions with specific geographic needs in mind. Some key features include:
These applications demonstrate how Clappia's no-code platform can be tailored to meet a wide range of operational needs.
The company had a significant improvement in operational efficiency and resource utilization. Consequently, instantaneous data capturing and automated processes facilitated faster response to emerging problems and better decision making.
The possibility to scale up without a corresponding rise in costs was among its major achievements. In case Zip Healthcare extended its services to new areas, it would rely on Clappia’s scalable platform in order to maintain high levels of efficiency and service quality. To this end, scalability has been an essential aspect of Zip Healthcare's growth strategy as it allowed them access more communities and touch many lives.
Additionally, being able to create and release apps within a short period of time, enabled Zip Healthcare to be flexible in times of demand. It was useful even for unplanned contingencies like supply chain interruptions or regulatory changes.
Zip Healthcare looks forward with ambitious plans to further expand its footprint across the African market. The company also wants to develop additional software applications that will address several aspects of healthcare delivery that are doctor and hospital management related and government agency partnerships in the geographies that they operate.
They have started off with their journey, launching Zip Plus, a new pharmacy management system app, which helps the pharmacies to manage the entire Pharmacy and are looking to add many more features to that.
Zip Healthcare’s journey with Clappia’s no-code platform highlights the transformative power of technology in addressing critical healthcare challenges. By leveraging Clappia, Zip Healthcare has been able to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve the delivery of healthcare services across Africa. As they continue to grow and innovate, Clappia remains an integral part of their strategy to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to those who need it most.
