White-Labeled Apps and Custom Domain Mapping in Clappia

Clappia provides customisation options to align your workplace with your brand identity. These features include white-labeled apps and custom domain mapping. Each of these features allows you to personalize your users' experience by incorporating your company's branding.

These features are available in the Professional Plan and are not included in the Free or Starter Plan.

What Are White-Labeled Apps and Custom Domain Mapping?

• White-Labeled Apps allow you to have a fully customized mobile app for your workplace with your company’s logo and branding while removing Clappia’s name from the app interface and is hosted on Playstore or iStore.
• Custom Domain Mapping lets you use your own domain instead of clappia.com, providing a fully branded experience when accessing Clappia.

White-Labeled Mobile Apps

White-labeling ensures your users interact with a fully branded mobile app under your company’s identity. You can request a WhiteLabeled Mobile App, which includes:

• Your company logo on the app.
• A custom app name as seen in the Play Store or App Store.
• A custom splash screen when users launch the app.
• A custom package name for Android applications.

How to Request a White-Labeled App

In your Clappia dashboard, select the app for which you need white labeling and go to ‘Design App’. Navigate to the ‘Distribute tab’ and click on ‘WhiteLabeled App’.

Requesting a WhiteLabeled Android App

1. On the right panel, click Download Android App.

2. Fill in the details:
   
   • App Name - Enter the name of your app. The same will appear in the Google PlayStore.
     ‍
   • App Icon - Upload the icon for your app. The same will appear in the Google PlayStore. The app icon image should be a .png file with a square size of at least 1024×1024 px.|
     ‍
   • App Splash Screen - Upload the splash screen image. When users open your app they will see the splash screen image first. This should also be a .png file with a size of at least 2732x2732 px.

Note: This image will get cropped from the sides to generate splash screens for portrait and landscape modes, so ensure that there is sufficient padding on all sides.

• App Package Name - This is a unique identifier for your android app on the PlayStore. We usually recommend com.clappia.(your-workplace-name). Or you can keep com.(your-workplace-name).app

3. You will receive an email with the APK and App Bundle files in 15-20 minutes.

Requesting a WhiteLabeled iOS App

1. Click Request iOS App.
2. Fill in the required details in the pop-up form and submit it. Clappia will then reach out to you.

Custom Domain Mapping

With custom domain mapping, you can configure Clappia to be accessible through your own domain, eliminating references to clappia.com in the URL.

How to Set Up Custom Domain Mapping

Ensure you have an active domain (e.g., userdomain.com). Submit a request to Clappia for custom domain mapping.

If your company domain is userdomain.com, then you can request a custom domain mapping for app.userdomain.com, so that your actual domain is not affected.

This is a 2-step process. Once you submit the request above, you will receive an email with the next steps within 24 hours. The email will look something like this -

You will have to add these mappings to your domain provider (AWS Route53, GoDaddy, HostPapa, Hostinger etc) and then reply to this email once done. We will be setting a few more configurations at our end and you will receive another email with a few more mappings like this -

Once you update these mappings in the Domain Provider, you might have to wait for 2-3 hours for the changes to propagate. After that, you should be able to access your Clappia Workplace on the custom domain.

Important Notes:

• You will need to have Admin Access to your Domain Provider to be able to setup the Custom Domain Mapping.
• Different domain providers might have different syntax requirements for adding the mappings. For example, if you want to add xxxx.app.userdomain.com, you might have to only add xxxx.app in your settings.
• (Specific for Hostinger); You will have to add two additional records for the Domain Mapping to work - '@ 0 issue "amazon.com"  0' and '@ 0 issuewild "amazon.com"  0'

FAQs

Will this process automatically host the app on PlayStore and AppStore?
No. For Android, this process will generate the .apk and App Bundle Files. You can upload these files on your Google PlayStore Account. For iOS, please contact us with the logo and other details and we will help you with hosting the app in your AppStore account.

I am getting a message, "Subscription does not include WhiteLabeled Apps".
The feature to download the .apk files is available only while you are on the 30-days trial or if you have purchased the White Labeled App subscription.

Can I test the .apk file before hosting on my PlayStore Account?
Yes, you can install the .apk file on your Android phone. You will be able to access all your Clappia Apps inside the app.
